Generally, the response of white Americans was anger, disgust, and vicious attacks on Rev. Wright. White Americans rarely dealt with the historical context on which Rev. Wright?s comments were made. They were incensed that a Black American minister would speak disparagingly about America and its treatment of black Americans. Black Americans, on the other hand, could identify with much of what Rev. Wright had said because many of them had felt the pain of injustice, discrimination, and racism. Many black Americans believe that Hillary Clinton?s dogged determination to stay in the race for president, although numerically she cannot win in the delegate count, is based on a belief that white Americans, in the privacy of the voting booth - when their actions are between them and their God alone - will once again succumb to racist prejudice and vote for anyone but the black American man. Clinton?s statements that she is most electable - that she is the one who can win in the November 2008 presidential election - is a coded, euphemistic way of saying that in the final analysis, white Americans will not vote for a black American man to lead this country.The purpose of this book is to provide you with a brief, historical, spiritual, and psychological treatment of Racism in America - its causes, evolution, and possibilities for the future.
