It is intended to answer at a low cost, a high demand from managers for a format that provides an attractive and effective way to grasp at a glance where the organization stands.The utility has 2 possible main uses:-A charting utility capable of translating indicators values into a gauge format not found in Excel or other applications A complete managerial dashboard that updates itself from the company server with the actual values, and could serve as a front end for managers willing to monitor their unit's performances against predefined targets or warning range areas The utility doesn't pretend by any mean to replace well structured and very complex measurement systems. It is a tool to be used on top of such systems, and not instead of them.The DMUe has a unique feature, not found in other systems, that could translate any metric value into a standard score on the 1-10 scale, thus enabling the comparison between metrics with different units of measure. The utility is very flexible, and could fit a vast range of templates that should answer most of the needs for a dashboard format.The DMUe has some special templates that could accommodate the Balanced Scorecard approach for the grouping of measures.The utility is built around Microsoft Excel, so that the user should not have any difficulty to familiarize with the tool. Moreover, he could use all the Excel powerful built-in features. For example, he may combine on the same layout, regular charts and gauges. The fact that the DMUe is built around Microsoft Excel should not in any case leads to the conclusion that it is a "trivial" utility. In fact, it is a very sophisticated tool with a lot of programming and algorithms acting "behind the scene".
