[Description of the Software] This program can translate GDSII Stream Format into ASCII format (in text file). The program is platform indepedent since it is implemented in Java programming language. You have to have Java SDK or JRE installed on your computer before running the program. For Unix/Linux users, Java should have already been installed on your system. You can start running the program by typing the commands in the section [How to Run the Program]. [About Downloading] The downloaded file name should be "gdsii2ascii.jar". If your browsers/applications changed your file name for some reasons, such as "gdsii2ascii.zip", you should rename it to "gdsii2ascii.jar". [How to Run the Program] For Windows (95/98/2000/XP/NT) users, please click on "Start --> Run..." of your computer. Then type "cmd" followed by clicking "OK" to invoke the DOS prompt window. After that, execute the following command: % java -jar gdsii2ascii.jar your_GDSII_input_file For Unix/Linux users, you can also run the program by using the above command on your terminal. The output of the program is via standard output. Therefore, you can output the result to a file by using ">" symbol. For example: % java -jar gdsii2ascii.jar GDSII_input_file > output_file.txt You can also output the result to another program under Unix/Linux. For example, you can run the program with the pipe ("|") command in Unix/Linux. We also offer ASCII to GDSII translator, so that the ASCII layout format can be translated back to GDSII.
